The Friends of West Hoe Park is a local community group setup by the residents of West Hoe to petition Plymouth City Council to develop the disused tennis courts on Grand Parade as an enhancement to the public recreational facilities at West Hoe Park and not a private luxury apartment project. Since completion of roof refurbishment works at the end of June 2013 the FoWC have enjoyed some respite, as indeed must have the villagers, from living and breathing fund raising. That said, FOWC did make a contribution during 2016 to the long-overdue overhaul of the Church Organ. The Village Lottery continues and as of March 2017, over 9,000 has been contributed directly to FoWC funds and an equal sum distributed in prize money.
